Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 31, 2026
This policy explains what information darkenimage.com handles when you use the site. The short version: your images never leave your device, and we collect as little as possible.
Your images stay on your device
The image darkener runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript and the canvas element. When you open a photo, it is read directly from your device into the page. It is never uploaded, transmitted, stored, or seen by us or anyone else. When you close the page, the image is gone.
What we store
The site saves one thing in your browser's local storage: your light or dark theme preference. It stays on your device, is not sent anywhere, and you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser data. The site does not use accounts, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or any other personal information.
Advertising
We may display ads served by Google AdSense to keep the tool free. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ad Center.
- You can learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- You can opt out of some third-party ad cookies at aboutads.info.
Hosting logs
Like almost every website, our hosting provider keeps standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and reliability. We do not use these logs to identify visitors.
Children's privacy
The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page with a new date at the top.
